Upstream speaks at Stryker Innovation Summit
Upstream’s Tim Sweeney spoke at Stryker’s annual Innovation Summit attended by over 300 organizational leaders. To inspire new innovations that improve healthcare, summit programming included internal presentations and key notes from external thought leaders. Tim’s talk focused on overcoming universal barriers to game changing innovation and included themes such as; organizational tunnel vision, bureaucracy built to defend the status quo, a disconnect from the people you’re trying to serve, silo mentality, environments that compartmentalize, fear of failure, and investing in only one time horizon. He contextualized these themes to how other organizations are attempting to address them and what Stryker might consider doing to further advance their innovation agenda.
“Tom and Mickey organized a great event that focused on actionable take-aways. It was amazing to see a standing room only audience. Stryker is clearly motivated to streamline their pathway to ground breaking innovation, which is half the battle. I’m expecting big things from them over the next decade.”
